Admission Test
Admission Tests
Starting with admissions for Winter Semester 2023/24 all new applicants need to complete an admissions test on our online platform. The results of your test will help to inform the decision about your application.
In terms of content, the test will include the following subject areas:
- Programming and algorithms
- Theoretical computer science and logic
- Databases and conceptual modeling
- Mathematics in computer science (calculus, linear algebra, stochastics)
- Software engineering
Sample Test
To familiarize yourself with the testing environment, we are providing you with the opportunity to take a sample test, which you can repeat as many times as you like. This test is filled with dummy questions (mostly arithmetic between 0 and 100) to give you an idea what sort of questions might appear, from a technical perspective. It is – of course – not indicative of content or difficulty of the actual tests. Furthermore it is only available in the few days leading up to an actual test date. If it is available, it will be linked here. If it is not linked here, it is not available.
You will need to sign up to the platform in order to attempt both the sample and the real test. Instructions on how to do that are available here. You will need a code to sign up, these codes are distributed via email a few days to a week before the test. If you have submitted a complete (!) application by then, you will get the code. Please see below when the next test dates are. If you see that the test environment is linked here and you did not receive a code to sign up, please get in contact, but only then.
After typing in the code, register with your name and email address and choose a password. It is important that you remember your given username and your chosen password. Later on, you will also need your applicant number (from the application platform Campo), so please enter it as well. Without this information, we cannot assign your test (and without a test, you won’t be admitted)!

Real Tests
There will be more than one possible date to take the test in every application period, including at least one test date after applications are closed. Please consider, however, that every applicant will only get to take the test once. Moreover, taking a later test will necessarily delay the final decision about your application.
Every test date will give you a 1-hour (!) window to complete the test. Every applicant will only get one chance at completing the test, so it is not (!) possible to start the test, then abandon it to try again at a later date. Similarly, it is not (!) possible to attempt the test again in the future if you have already done so in the past.
If you have further questions, please refer primarily to the instructions as well as the FAQ page on this topic.
Furthermore, the link to the actual test will also be given here, when it is available. If it is not linked here, it is not available.

Feedback / Results
You will not get any direct feedback on how well you did in the test. The results will be made available to the admissions committee, and they will take it into account. Once they have reached their decision, your status in the application portal (Campo) will be updated accordingly. There is no concrete timeline for this.
